format file mts

What is a mts file and how do I open a mts file?

Files integrated with video compression specifications used for the AVCHD format are stored in the MTS file format. Classified as video files, these AVCHD files are implemented with encoding standards used for digital high definition video content. Affixed with the .mts extension, the content of an AVCHD file is particularly saved in 720-progressive video format, or sometimes in 1080-interlaced video format, and these MTS files are also integrated with MPEG4 encoding specifications. These MTS video files can be burned unto optical media like DVD, CD and Blue-ray disks. The HDLink program can be used to view the digital high definition video data stored in these .mts files.
