The OLK14Category file extension, also known as an Outlook category file, was developed by Microsoft. It is a file format used to store a category, which can be used for organizing email messages, calendar items, contacts, tasks, appointments, and notes. They are not manually opened and saved by the user instead; they are created and read by the program itself. They are saved within the following Mac OS X directory: [user]/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/Main Identity/Data Records/Signatures/. In the older versions of Outlook, the Master Category list is stored in the registry but in the latest versions, the Master Category list is stored in the mailbox or pst-file. In Outlook 2007 and 2010, the new color category dialog was added. It is used to add categories to the master list and be able to assign a color to the added category. Some default categories include Family, Friends, Holiday, Personal, and No Category. Files in OLK14Category format can be opened with Microsoft Outlook 2011 in Mac OS platforms. For category fanatics, there are third party category tools that can be used such as VBOffice Category Manager and CodeTwo CatMan.
