format file xmi

What is a xmi file and how do I open a xmi file?

Files with the .xmi extension are commonly known as XML Metadata Interchange Files and as Extended MIDI Files. These files are called XML Metadata Interchange Files because they are created using a popular format used to exchange UML diagrams. These files function as storage of information about model designs as well as they are also used to transfer these design information from software to another. On the other hand, these files are also called Extended MIDI Files because they contain standard MIDI files in different variations. Compared to MIDI files, .xmi files are smaller and require no further information about timing. Although these are considered audio files, they do not refer to actual audio information. Aside from these two common uses of .xmi files, some applications such as EverQuest File, Winamp Extended MIDI File, and a lot more are also associated with it. These files are also commonly opened with No Magic MagicDraw, Eclipse IDE for Java Developers, Liquid Technologies Liquid XML Studio, Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect, Nullsoft Winamp Media Player 5.6, FMJ-Software Awave Studio, etc.
