What is a me file and how do I open a me file?

The ME file extension is used for a Readme Text File which details information pertaining to a software application. ME is usually named as READ.ME and created during the software installation procedure. Typical READ.ME file includes installation program instructions, basic functions needed by the program, operational instructions, trouble shooting procedures, licensing and copyright information, acknowledgement and credits, news section for users, certain bugs known for the program, manifest of files, contact information list of the programmer and distributor of the program, program updates, change log files, important notices and warnings listed for the program’s operation. A READ.ME file is sometimes descriptive in nature meaning there are also other types associated with it like README.1st, README.MD, README.WRI, README.TXT and README.DOC. There are also additional information that programmers include in their programs besides the README files like FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and TODO (tags used to indicate planned enhancements). Generally, the name README is the name chosen so that users can easily notice it prompting them to read the information it entails.
