format file ctl

What is a ctl file and how do I open a ctl file?

The Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 software uses files appended with the .ctl format as developer files. These are stored in the CTL format that was created by Microsoft, and these CTL developer files are also called Visual Basic UserControl Object files. The content of these CTL files consists of code that refer to ActiveX controls entered by the author of the CTL file and the associated project output file using the Microsoft Visual Basic development application. Visual Basic UserControl details associated to a project authored using the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 are entered as source code in a CTL file, while the binary control data corresponding to a particular project file and its associated CTL file is stored in a file appended with the .ctx extension. Users of computers running on Microsoft Windows-based systems can install the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 software to create and modify these project files and to enter data in these CTL files.
