What is an emp file and how do I open an emp file?

An eMusic music download file contains location details of the corresponding digital audio files where it is stored, and these files are saved in the EMP format. These are classified as data files, and this format was developed by eMusic.com for its download management application. Affixed with the .emp extension, these EMP files can be initialized by using the eMusic Download Manager software. This application was developed by eMusic.com to provide users with a set of features that can allow them to download batches of digital music tracks or entire collections of digital song databases that can be played in many digital audio player programs and electronic digital audio playback devices like MP3 and M4A players. When an EMP file is initialized using the eMusic Download Manager software, this program accesses the data stored in the EMP file to determine the location where it should download the corresponding digital music from. The eMusic Download Manager software then starts downloading the audio files. This application is also integrated with support for continuing and pausing downloads started upon the initialization of these EMP files. Metadata details like names of artists and songs as well as the cover images of the artist's albums may also be stored in these EMP files.
