What is an inx file and how do I open an inx file?
INX is a document file exported by Adobe InDesign in XML format. It completely describes an InDesign file, including pages, page content, text frames, colours, margins, and guides. InDesign CS2 files exported in the INX format can be opened by InDesign CS. INX files contain the documents which Adobe InDesign exports in XML format and they contain descriptions of an InDesign (.INDD) file which includes page content, colors, guides, pages, text frames, margins, etc. Most of the InDesign CS2 files which are exported to the INX format can be accessed with the use of InDesign CS. InDesign CS recognizes all page contents and formatting with the exception for the features that are available in InDesign CS2 alone such as the footnotes, tracked changes, imported PSD files along with layers, SING glyphlets, object styles and anchored object. When exporting an InDesign document in the INX format, users must choose File→Export first and then select InDesign Interchange found in either the Formats menu, for MacIntosh users, or the File Type menu for Windows, before saving it. The InCopy and GoLive applications also use the .INX file format.
Adobe InDesign, a desktop publishing software application produced by Adobe Systems, can be used to create posters, flyers, brochures, newspapers, magazines, and books. InDesign also publishes content suitable for portable devices such as tablets in concert with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. Graphic designers and production artists are the main users, creating and laying out periodical publications, posters, and print media. It also supports export to EPUB and SWF formats to create e-books and digital publications, including digital magazines, and content suitable for consumption on portable electronics.
