What is a html file and how do I open a html file?

An HTML, or HyperText Markup Language file contains format that is used as the basis of a web page. HTML is a file extension used interchangeably with HTM. It is a simple universal markup language that allows web publishers to create complex pages of text and images that which can be viewed by anyone on the internet, regardless of what kind of computer or browser software is being used. HTML is a series of tags integrated into a text document that directs browser action. There are many applications that can be utilized to create and edit an HTML file, and several Web browsers can be used to open and view the content of files in the .html format. The HTML codes implemented into these .html files are parsed by Web browsers, which means it is hidden from viewers. Microsoft Notepad can be used to create HTML files and also open and view its source code. The first instance of HTML, which was a series of HTML Tags, was released in 1991, and strongly influenced by it's predecessor SGML (Standard Generalized Mark-up Language)
