format file class

What is a class file and how do I open a class file?

The CLASS file extension indicates files that have been created by the Java compiler. They contain a Java bytecode, a binary program code which can be executed on the Java Virtual Machine. A CLASS file consists of a stream of 8-bit bytes. CLASS files can be compiled from JAVA files using the javac command, which is included with a JVM installation. Many Java IDEs, such as Eclipse, can compile CLASS files while a developer is writing a program code.
